France

France is one of the most complicated jurisdictions in Europe in terms of its labour laws and its approach to labour relations.

The global business will need to understand the complexities of France’s labour laws in terms of the statutory framework, the different types of working relationships (especially those that would constitute a criminal offence), statutory rights such as profit sharing and the documents that form the employment relationship from the permissible terms in a contract of employment to the wide range of collective bargaining agreements that could apply at company, regional, national and industry level.

In terms of labour relations, the global business will need to understand France’s complex structure and approach to managing labour relations, in particular the role of the French Works Council, the Trade Unions and the Labour Inspectorate.
