Bulgaria

Bulgaria’s commercial environment has made strides since the turn of the millennium, with employers becoming more attracted by its improving economy, geopolitical conditions, and educated workforce. Approximately 80% of the working-age Bulgarian population has a secondary or higher education, and the teaching of foreign languages is introduced at an early age.

Labour law in Bulgaria is mainly set out in the Labour Code with numerous sub-laws and rules. It follows similar principles to those generally applicable in the European Union.

Collective agreements form an important part of the country’s labour regulation.
