France: Technology Sector – Collective Agreement Sexual Harassment and Sexist Behaviour Provisions
The Fédération Syntec (“Syntec”) represents more than 3,000 organisations, employing over 1.2 million people in the digital, engineering, consulting and events industry sectors.
In May, Syntec announced an extension to the existing collective agreement dated February 28th 2024 aimed at combating sexist and sexual harassment in the workplace. The collective agreement came into force on June 1st, 2025.
The agreement now requires all managers to undergo training in recognising sexist behaviour and dealing with sexual harassment.
The training involves educational modules that show managers how to spot, respond to and, above all, prevent inappropriate behaviour, through an inclusive working environment.
To assist this, Syntec provides some tools:
- a practical guide that seeks to include such behaviour into the main reference tool for preventing accidents at work: Document Unique d’Evaluation des Risques Professionnels (Single Document for Professional Risk Assessment) the DUERP;
- off the shelf campaigns that can be used to inform employees of appropriate behaviour, their rights and remedies;
- a support tool or guide to identify and define sexism and sexual harassment, including an online self-assessment.
In order to encourage employer commitment to creating a safe and trusted workplace, the collective agreement also emphasises the importance of employer traceability and an annual evaluation of related policies and steps.
Employers must include in their annual social reports, the cases identified and the actions they have taken.
This is a high level general update only. Legal advice should be obtained on specific circumstances.
