Brexit : latest developments
UK Prime Minister Theresa May announced yesterday that, as part of the Brexit process, the government will introduce to Parliament shortly an Act, to be called the Great Repeal Act, that will with one simple stroke incorporate all current European Union law into the laws of the United Kingdom.
Once incorporated, successive governments will be free over time to make such changes to UK law as they think appropriate in the normal way.
With regard to the formal triggering of Article 50, which starts the detailed negotiations of the terms for Brexit, Theresa May has announced this will happen before March 31, 2017.
For now at least no major changes to UK labour law need be anticipated as part of the Brexit process.
